With reverse osmosis, water is pushed through a membrane (filter) that traps the
minerals from one side and allows the pure water to flow from the other, leaving
your customer’s cars sparkling clean.
Spot-free rinse systems or reverse osmosis systems primarily are used at the end
of the process for the final rinse. In tunnel car washes, spot-free water is typically
applied through a rain arch near the end of the tunnel. In automatic, either friction
or frictionless, car washes spot-free water is applied as the final cycle. In self-serve
wash bays, spot-free water is selected as one of the last functions on the control
panel.
Depending on the location of the car wash, water hardness may be a concern. Hard
water reacts poorly with soaps and detergents, requiring high concentrations to
provide the desired result and leaves cars with spots even after the wash. Water
softeners (for hardness) and activated carbon filters (to remove chlorine) will
correct the problems that occur with hard water. An additional 5-micron (usually
standard in the system) provides added protection.
Spot-free water is great for windows, chrome, or any shiny surface. Mixing chemicals
with reverse osmosis water will increase the chemical performance of all detergents
and cleaners. Spot-free rinse systems are great and necessary additions to keeping
